Veganic fruit grower featured in Fridays on the Farm

Vermont’s Arbor Farmstead was recently featured in the USDA’s weekly Fridays on the Farm series.

Arbor Farmstead growers Alisha Utter and Kyle Bowley grow strawberries, cane berries, other annual fruit crops and winter greens in Grand Isle, Vermont.

Veganic management practices exclude inputs such as “synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, genetically modified organisms, and farm animal-derived inputs, such as blood, feather, fish meals, bone char, and manure,” according to the story. Utter is working on a doctorate degree on plant and soil science at the University of Vermont.

They recently obtained two high tunnels through the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service‘s Environmental Quality Incentives Program.
