Automated FruitScout honored for precision farming products

Automated FruitScout (AFS) has won recognition for its precision crop load management technology.

AFS was named a Top 10 Precision Farming Solution Provider by Agri Business Review Magazine. The yearly list recognizes and promotes innovation and entrepreneurship in the agriculture and technology space, according to a news release.

AFS provides agriculture process automation and precision crop load management through technology and agronomy.

“We are thrilled to receive this global recognition as an industry-leading solution that puts the power of advanced technology and agronomy directly into the hands of growers,” said Matt King, CEO of the Yakima, Washington-based AFS, said in the release. “We bring science into the field by automating the crop load management process and provide data-driven insights to help growers optimize yield quantity, improve grade quality, and maximize profits. FruitScout is a leader in agriculture process automation, the integration of advanced technology and agronomy in the development of new solutions to automate key agricultural processes to help growers thrive, according to the release. FruitScout’s mobile app leverages computer vision technology, enabling growers to scientifically determine their optimal crop loads, and saves them from wasting labor and inputs and growing suboptimal crops, according to the release.

Companies added to the magazine’s annual ranking of precision farming solutions are selected by the magazine’s editorial board and a panel of industry experts, including Certified Crop Advisers, Certified Professional Agronomists, retailers and dealers, distributors of crop inputs and professional farm managers.

“Leading with horticultural and agronomic science, FruitScout adds precision to crop load management by delivering automated agricultural processes that can be implemented by growers at scale in their fields,” magazine officials said in the release.

FruitScout’s focus on innovation is being commended by growers. Washington Fruit & Produce cites the company’s efforts to automate agricultural processes is producing actual results in the field.

“FruitScout gives us information in the way we think about it without requiring us to change our existing practices,” Dan Plath, Washington Fruit & Produce’s president, said in the release. “We can scale our process, and the benefits associated with them, to a whole new level with no capital outlays.”
