China approves USHBC to market blueberries

The U.S. Highbush Blueberry Council can now conduct marketing activities in China, an important step in the organization’s program development for the country.

The Chinese government recently approved the U.S. Highbush Blueberry Council’s (USHBC) registration as a Foreign Nongovernmental Organization (FNGO). China started requiring the registration in 2017, when it enacted the “Law on Administration of Activities of Overseas Nongovernmental Organizations in the Mainland of China.”

USHBC worked with the U.S. State Department, the Shanghai Public Security Bureau and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Washington, D.C., for more than 1 ½ years to receive the approval.

By completing its FNGO registration, USHBC is now officially approved to conduct marketing activities in China. It will allow the organization to ramp up promotional activities in the country. USHBC is excited about this next step in its China program and seeing how the market continues to develop for the industry, according to a news release.
