Americans are spending less time gardening, according to a survey.

Changes in gardening time are apparent in the 2025 Axiom Gardening Outlook Survey.

While 52% of respondents spent the same amount of time gardening in 2024 compared to 2023, the trend of more time in the garden is fading.

 

 

Only 35.9% of respondents spent more time gardening in 2024 compared to 2023, which is down 10.9 percentage points from 2023 and 8.5 percentage points from 2022.

On the other hand, more money was spent on gardening in 2024, with 44.4% of respondents who said yes to new items. This is 8.5 percentage points higher than 2023 and 2 percentage points higher than 2022.
