AppleTracker: Holdings reach 147 million bushels as fresh stocks fall and processing supplies grow

USApple’s January 2026 AppleTracker report just came in fresh off the presses, and it shows that U.S. fresh-market apple holdings on Jan. 1 totaled 100 million bushels (7% decline YOY).

The same data showed the processing sector carried 47 million processing apple holdings (7% increase) on the same date.

The top five apple holding states at the turn of the new year included:

  • Honeycrisp (20,315,472)
  • Gala (19,115,735)
  • Granny Smith (19,022,557)
  • Cosmic Crisp (16,243,810)
  • Red Delicious (16,221,276)
  • Other (unnamed) varieties (9,890,635)

Imports & Exports

The data shows that U.S. fresh apple exports are above the 2024-2025 and five-year average trends, while fresh apple imports sit close to the 2024-2025 and five-year-average trends.

U.S. apple juice concentrate net imports were found to be trailing each of the previous three year’s levels.
