Michigan Apple Committee launches social media summit

The Michigan Apple Committee is offering a social media summit to teach selected young growers the latest trends and best practices to promote their business and the Michigan apple industry.

The Handpicked Social Media Summit will enable participants to create compelling content showcasing their farms’ unique stories.

“The Handpicked Social Media Summit will allow us to cultivate brand ambassadors to represent the Michigan apple industry online,” Diane Smith, Michigan Apple Committee executive director, said in a news release. “Consumers want to meet apple growers and learn more about where their food comes from.”

Many young growers are already active on social media.

“The summit will share best practices, tips and information to enable them to best represent the industry on platforms reaching our target audience,” Smith said in the release.

Nominations are being accepted for the Aug. 1 summit. Michigan Apple growers are encouraged to nominate themselves or their peers to be selected to attend this dynamic event. Expert-led sessions will teach them how to use social media to promote their apples, build brand awareness and engage customers in new and exciting ways.

To nominate a Michigan apple grower, complete the online nomination form. The deadline for nominations is June 1.

The Michigan Apple Committee is a grower-funded nonprofit organization devoted to marketing, education and research activities to distinguish the Michigan apple and encourage its consumption in Michigan and around the world.
