New blueberry variety offers early-to-mid-season yield, quality
Fall Creek introduces Apex, a blueberry variety with firm berries, long shelf life and consistent harvests. Learn how Apex can enhance your blueberry program.
Fall Creek Farm and Nursery has added the blueberry variety Apex ‘FCM14-057’ to its Fall Creek Collection . The variety has been evaluated in commercial settings and grown across multiple regions before its formal launch.
Apex is an early- to mid-season variety developed to meet commercial farm demands for consistent fruit quality, extended shelf life and sizing for both export and U.S. retail markets.
The breeder claims the new variety offers firm berries with a shelf life up to 45 days, large and consistent sizing and flavor characteristics aimed at driving repeat consumer purchases. Its yield potential is said to exceed 20 metric tons per hectare, according to a press release from Fall Creek.
The variety’s performance has been confirmed in zero- and low-chill regions, where it is now available through the Fall Creek licensing program. Apex is positioned to give growers a reliable early- to mid-season harvest window at a time when supply consistency is important for retailers seeking to extend blueberry sales.
The variety is available globally through Fall Creek’s licensing network, with commercial outreach targeting importers and retailers to support distribution and market recognition.
