November apple holdings down from 2014

The U.S. Apple Association has released its first storage report on the 2015 U.S. apple crop. According to the report, Nov. 1 fresh-market apple holdings of 117.3 million bushels were 19 percent lower than November 2014 holdings of 145.6 million bushels, but 1 percent above the five-year average of 115.7 million bushels.

Nov. 1 processing apple holdings were 42.7 million bushels, 5.4 percent below those of 2014 but 2.5 percent above the five-year average.

The total number of apples in storage on Nov. 1 was 160 million bushels, 16 percent below last November’s total, according to USApple.
