Okanagan Specialty Fruits launches new foodservice web portal

Summerland, British Columbia, Canada-based Okanagan Specialty Fruits (OSF), the pioneering agricultural company behind the development and commercialization of the nonbrowning Arctic apple released their new foodservice web portal ton Feb. 18.

The newly launched web portal provides information about Arctic apple fresh slices and Arctic ApBitz dried apple snacks, detailing the unique benefits of both to the foodservice industry. The portal is ideal for chefs or foodservice operators looking for sustainable solutions that save time, money and eliminate waste. The site features a collection of tools, including a custom field-generated calculator, which allows users to determine cost savings that can be realized with pre-cut slices of Arctic apples.

“We see remarkable demand from the foodservice industry,” said Rebecca Catlett, director of marketing and communications at Okanagan Specialty Fruits. “The fresh-picked flavor of Arctic apple slices is really resonating with chefs and foodservice operators. The portal was designed to provide information and pique the interest of the industry.”

Arctic apples are grown specifically for slicing, resulting in less prep, less waste, and better taste. These long shelf-life fresh apple slices can be prepped and plated right from their package, minimizing both labor and waste, while resulting in more apples eaten in more places. Non-browning Arctic apples provide a sustainable solution to costly chemical solutions that rob flavor, concerns typically associated with pre-cut apples.

“Arctic apples, developed with the fresh-cut market in mind, are a natural fit for foodservice use,” remarked Jennifer Armen, Vice President at Okanagan Specialty Fruits. “The features of Arctic apples benefit the entire supply chain.”
