Pear harvest has come to a close in the Pacific Northwest, and 2025 yield data is showing a fruitful harvest this year, according to a recent press release from USA Pears.

After last year’s short crop, USA Pears reports Oregon and Washington growers — who supply 88% of the nation’s fresh pearsbounced back this fall with a total harvest of 19 million boxes. That’s a 78% increase over 2024’s yield.

“Thanks to the dedication and hard work of our 700 grower families, partners, and the entire USA Pears community, we are proud to deliver exceptional quality fresh pears to consumers seeking a healthy snack or culinary delight,” said CarrieAnn Arias, president and CEO, USA Pears, in the release.

USA Pears says it distributes 10 varieties of pears throughout the year, and the agency reports that yields increased among all varieties this harvest.

Bosc pears, with their distinctive long neck and cinnamon brown hue, had a strong resurgence, with yields up more than 250% over last year’s harvest, USA Pears shared.

Arias encourages everyone to mark their calendars for World Pear Day on Saturday, Dec. 6. You can find more information about nutrition, varieties, recipes and ripening here.
