Record number of apples in storage, according to USApple report
The June 2020 edition of the U.S. Apple Association’s Market News was released June 5 by Mark W.Seetin, USApple’s director of regulatory & Industry Affairs. This is the eighth and final report on the 2019 apple crop.
According to the survey, this year’s fresh apple holdings on June 1, 2020, totaled a record 34.1million bushels, 23% greater than the inventories reported for June 1 of last year. Processing holdings totaled 13.8 million bushels, 28% greater than last year on June 1.
The total number of apples in storage on June 1, 2020, was a record 47.9 million bushels, 24% greater than last June’s total of 38.5 million bushels and 26% above the 5-year average for that date.
The next edition of Market News will be in November 2020 and will be the first report on the 2020 apple crop.
