Total number of apples in storage 10% less than last Nov. 1

The November 2020 edition of Market News has been released by Mark Seetin, director of regulatory and industry affairs for the U.S. Apple Association

This is the first report on the 2020 apple crop. According to the survey (see link below), this year’s fresh apple holdings on Nov. 1, 2020, totaled 117.5 million bushels, 12%  less than the inventories reported for Nov. 1 of last year. 

Processing holdings totaled 45.0 million bushels, 6% less than last year on Nov. 1.

The total number of apples in storage on Nov. 1, 2020, was 162.5 million bushels, 10% less than last November’s total of 181.0 million bushels and 4% below the 5-year average for that date. 

This is the final Market News report to be prepared by Seetin, who is moving toward retirement.
