Blueberry convention hotel reservations deadline nearing

The U.S. Highbush Blueberry Council (USHBC) is reminding blueberry industry professionals that the hotel registration deadline for their upcoming convention is approaching.

The Blueberry Convention 2023 is scheduled for Feb. 21-24 in San Diego, California. The deadline to reserve a discounted block of hotel rooms is Jan. 27, according to a news release from the Folsom, California-based organization.

Sponsored by USHBC and the North American Blueberry Council, the convention is designed to “bring together industry influencers and thought leaders to explore inspiring blueberry possibilities that are sure to boost your bottom line,” the council wrote in a news release.

The show includes a trade show, eight education sessions, receptions and board and crop reports.

Also included is a Feb. 24 tour of Fairfield Farms, a San Diego area grower of organic blueberries and avocados. The tour includes visiting fields, the packinghouse and solar energy system of the self-sufficient operation, which is considered a leader in organic and sustainable practices, according to the release.

No virtual or hybrid attendance option will be offered for the in-person event, according to the release. The hotel, the Rancho Bernardo Inn, is within walking distance of all the convention programs.

“We know you’re busy, so we’re giving you a few more days to book your hotel room for The Blueberry Convention within our reserved block and take advantage of discounted pricing,” the council wrote in the release. “We’ve extended the deadline to reserve your room to Jan. 27.”

Convention sponsors include AgroFresh, BC Blueberries, BeeHero, Berry Fresh, Berry Hill, California Giant Berry Farms, Consalo Family Farms, Driscoll’s, Fall Creek Nursery, First Pick Farms, KeyPlex, SunBelle, Unitec and Wish Farms.
