Cherry Industry Administrative Board CIAB tart cherries marketing
The Cherry Industry Administrative Board (CIAB) is seeking nominations for four open board member positions and their respective alternates.
Established in 1997, the CIAB is the administrative arm of the Federal Marketing Order for U.S. tart cherries. Comprised of growers and processors in Michigan, Utah, Oregon, Washington, New York, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, the CIAB educates consumers about the taste and benefits of consuming tart cherries.
These seats on the CIAB are up for election this winter for three-year terms beginning July 1:
- Northern Michigan — One handler member and alternate
- Central Michigan — One handler member and alternate
- Southern Michigan — One handler Member and alternate
- Public — One member and alternate
Nominees for the public board positions are prohibited from having any financial interest in the cherry industry, according to the release.
