Okanagan Specialty Fruits announces new partnership with Flavor Wave

Okanagan Specialty Fruits, developer and grower behind the Arctic apple varieties, announced Sept. 16 new partnership with Flavor Wave. Fresh-sliced Arctic apple varieties will be included in the Los Angeles area in Flavor Wave boxes, a subscription service that allows farmers, growers and wholesalers to deliver their fresh fruits and vegetables straight to consumers’ homes.

“Arctic apple slices are all about convenience, freshness and flavor, so joining Flavor Wave is a natural fit,” Don Westcott, vice president of operations, sales and marketing for Okanagan Specialty Fruits (OSF), said in a news release. “We’re excited for L.A. families to experience the convenience that comes with having pre-sliced apples ready to snack on or as an easy addition to your dinner salad. When Flavor Wave customers crunch into an Arctic apple slice for the first time they are going to experience a wave of freshly-picked flavor.”

Flavor Wave’s fresh produce box delivery is available in three options which include a fruit box, a veggie box, or a mixed box, with servings for up to five people for a week. Variety in the boxes will fluctuate, offering the freshest in-season produce. Arctic Golden and Arctic Granny varieties will be included in both the fruit and mixed boxes.

“One of the main reasons I developed Arctic apples was to help boost apple consumption,” said Neal Carter, president and founder of OSF. “It’s easy to get on board with a program that promotes fruit and vegetable consumption and makes eating healthy as easy as possible. As an orchardist myself, I love the idea and convenience of having a mini farmers market delivered to your doorstep.”

Arctic apples will also be promoting a contest to celebrate their launch into Flavor Wave produce boxes. Subscribers will be able to scan a QR code on their box and be entered to win an Arctic apple charcuterie themed prize pack.
