Wine school authorities surveying viticulture industry

Viticulture specialists from a leading wine institution want to know the industry’s needs.

The UC Davis Extension Team has been working with a group of research and Extension faculty members in viticulture, enology and marketing from around the U.S. on a questionnaire that seeks to identify Extension and research needs across the U.S. grape and wine industry.

This is the first step in an USDA Specialty Crop Research Initiative Research and Extension planning project grant called “Enhancing regional grape and wine production and quality.”

The primary goal is to engage industry stakeholders to identify the primary concerns and issues impacting the industry. The research and Extension specialists are seeking feedback in viticulture, enology and winery business management, according to a news release.

The questionnaire is voluntary, and researchers plan to aggregate the data. Responses will be confidential and no identifiable information will be collected or linked to responses, according to the release. The questionnaire is designed to involve up to 30 minutes of a respondent’s time.

Results will be used to assist the research team in providing the industry with new outreach (Extension) resources and information. March 29 is the questionnaire closing date.

Those with questions can contact the research team lead project directors Aude Watrelot at [email protected] or Cain Hickey at [email protected].
