Fruit Crop Guesstimate scheduled for June 19

The 58th Annual Fruit Crop Guesstimate, sponsored by the Michigan Frozen Food Packers Association (MFFPA), will be held at 2:30 p.m. June 19 at the Amway Grand in Grand Rapids, Mich.

The guesstimate provides a forum for growers, processors, wholesalers and retailers to review expectations for the tart cherry, sweet cherry, apple, peach and blueberry harvests in Michigan and across the nation.

MFFPA will present up to three scholarships during the event. Applications must be received no later than May 27, and each recipient must be able to attend the scholarship presentation at the Amway Grand. While there is preference given to students who have a relationship with an MFFPA member, priority will be given to those with food science majors who are in the upper 50 percent of their class and who reside in Michigan, according to the association.

The registration fee for the event is $75 per person, and includes meeting materials and a reception.

For more information, write the Michigan Frozen Food Packers Association at 4747 S. Elm Valley Road, Suttons Bay, MI 49682; call 231-271-5752; fax 231-271-5753; email K. Terry Morrison at [email protected].

Anyone interested in applying for an MFFPA scholarship should call Melanie LaPerriere at 269-434-6791.
