April 1 fresh apple holdings down from last year

According to the U.S. Apple Association, fresh apple holdings on April 1 totaled 47 million bushels, 23 percent below the record inventories (61.1 million bushels) reported for April 1, 2015, and 3 percent below the five-year average of 48.3 million bushels.Apples.jpg

Processing holdings totaled 19.9 million bushels, 18 percent below last year on April 1, and 1 percent above the five-year average.

The total number of apples in storage on April 1 was 66.9 million bushels, 22 percent below last April’s record of 85.4 million bushels, according to USApple.
