Farmworkers protest Saticoy conditions

Between 60 and 100 farm workers organized a strike outside a strawberry farm Saturday to protest alleged poor working conditions for employees.

The workers, many carrying the red flags of the United Farm Workers union, were joined by representative from the union’s Oxnard division. They walked along most of Darling Road in the Saticoy area of Ventura near the farm.

Lauro Barajas, regional director for the union’s Oxnard division who was at the protest, said the action involved about 100 workers who had called a work stoppage to protest what they said were poor working conditions. Ventura County Star
