New website launched for New Jersey peaches

The New Jersey Peach Promotion Council  has launched a newly designed website with rotating photos that conforms to any size screen.

“Now peach shoppers can find the nearest grower retailers and shippers of Jersey peaches from their smart phones, as well as from desktops, laptops and notebooks,” said Santo John Maccherone, chair of New Jersey Peach Promotion Council.

The website has a complete listing of member growers, enabling wholesale and retail buyers to find peaches and click through to supplier websites, which state what types of peaches are available and when.

Retailers can download peach price cards, handling guides, food safety practices, information on grading and more. There is also a click-through to useful links, such as the US Department of Agriculture, Rutgers University Peach Science, New Jersey Department of Agriculture’s Jersey Fresh websites, and others, as well as Facebook and Twitter.

Consumers can find recipes, peach facts, handling tips, nutrition information, food safety practices, New Jersey peach history and more.

Three videos can be opened through the site: one designed for consumers; one for wholesalers, distributors and retailers; and one geared to kids with “peach fun facts.”

When peaches are ready for market, in early July this year, the site’s homepage will feature upcoming events, supermarket nutrition demonstrations and availability in stores and farmers markets.
