US apples in storage up over a year ago

The USApple Association has issued its fourth report on the 2016 apple crop.

According to the survey, this year’s fresh apple holdings on Feb. 1, 2017, totaled 85.7 million bushels, 13 percent more than the inventories reported for  Feb. 1 of last year.

Processing holdings totaled 34.9 million bushels, 10 percent more than last year on Feb.  1.

The total number of apples in storage on Feb. 1, 2017, was 120.5 million bushels, 12 percent more than last February’s total of 107.9 million bushels.
