BAX system for microbiological testing used by PrimusLabs

Santa Maria, California-based PrimusLabs has transitioned to the BAX System for microbiological testing at all of its laboratories in the United States, as well as Mexicali, Baja California. Other laboratories in Mexico will transition to BAX system testing sometime in the future.

“The BAX xystem is a long-established, tested, and proven technology throughout the food testing industry. For over 20 years, the BAX system has been a “go-to” method for third-party testing, as well as academic research and government laboratories alike,” a news release stated.

“Hygiena’s BAX system breaks down samples at the genetic level, using the power of the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to detect with certainty harmful bacteria and other microbes in food and environmental samples. These reliable results help food companies make product release decisions with confidence. Customers around the world have made the BAX system, previously sold by Qualicon, an integral part of their quality control systems due to its tremendous impact on their operations – from dramatically decreasing false positives and minimizing re-testing, to reducing employee training, and speeding the time to market.

“PrimusLabs has long made the commitment to utilize the most reliable and accurate technology possible to help us to serve food industries,” said Adam Hughes, director of microbiology. “We believe our decision to add BAX System assays to our micro labs is in keeping with that commitment.”
