California releases the 2017 Final Grape Crush Report

The California Department of Food and Agriculture, in cooperation with USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service, has released the 2017 Final Grape Crush Report.

The total 2017 winegrape crush equaled 4,013,684 tons, which was down from the 2016 total of 4,031,571 tons.

Red wine varieties accounted for the largest share of all grapes crushed, at 2,248,260 tons, down 1.4 percent from 2016. The 2017 white wine variety crush totaled 1,765,424 tons, up 0.8 percent from 2016. The 2017 crush (all grape varieties) totaled 4,239,836 tons, up 0.5 percent from the 2016 crush of 4,217,154 tons.

This final report includes all grape tonnage crushed during the 2017 season. It also includes purchased tonnage and pricing information for grapes with final prices prior to Jan. 10, 2018. The Final Grape Crush Report contains any late reports or corrections to the preliminary report.
