June 1 apple holdings up from last year

The U.S. Apple Association has given its final storage report for the 2014 apple crop: Fresh apple holdings on June 1, 2015, totaled 29.8 million bushels, a 26 percent increase from June 1, 2014, and 35 percent above the five-year average (22.1 million bushels) for that date.

Processing holdings on June 1 totaled 11.7 million bushels, 18 percent above last year and 28 percent above the five-year average.

The total number of apples in storage on June 1, 2015, was 41.5 million bushels, 24 percent above the same time last year.
