Ampersand adjuvant system offered by Attune Agriculture

Growers of fruit and vegetable crops wanting to improve the delivery and efficacy of agricultural pesticides now have an innovative new tool available with Ampersand, a scientifically formulated, adjuvant system utilizing hydrocolloid technology. Attune, the makers of Ampersand, tapped into over a century’s worth of hydrocolloid expertise from the food industry in order to create this functionally superior adjuvant system. Hydrocolloids are natural ingredients that have the unique ability to bind and control the characteristics of water-based solutions.

Ampersand enhances the precision of pesticide performance in both conventional and organic crops by:

  • Improving spray coverage.
  • Increasing deposition.
  • Providing resistance to wash off from rainfall or overhead irrigation.

For nearly five years, Ampersand’s patent-pending technology has been extensively evaluated utilizing laboratory, greenhouse, spray chamber, wind tunnel and field research trials. In greenhouse trials, Ampersand improved herbicide performance 82 percent of the time. In field trials, Ampersand improved herbicide, insecticide and fungicide performance 88 percent of the time while competitive deposition aids improved performance only 38 percent to 43 percent of the time. Ampersand has been developed using only food grade ingredients that have been extensively tested to have the lowest toxicity rating, Category IV. No signal words are required for labeling this product and no special PPE or handling is required. Ampersand is OMRI-listed for organic use.

Ampersand is registered in most U.S. states and Mexico, and currently awaiting registration in California.

Attune was formally established in 2016 with the purpose of creating high- quality agricultural products based on hydrocolloid technology. Leveraging its diverse expertise gives Attune a unique perspective with which to tackle current agricultural issues.  Attune focuses intently on using ingredients that have their origins in foods to minimize the impact of more traditional agricultural chemicals on workers and the environment.
