US apple holdings reported 15% above totals from a year ago

The U.S. Apple Association has released  the April 2020 edition of Market NewsThis is the sixth report on the 2019 apple crop.

According to the survey, this year’s fresh apple holdings on April 1, 2020, totaled 58.7 million bushels, 15% greater than the inventories reported for April 1 of last year. 

Processing holdings totaled 23.0 million bushels, 12% greater than last year on April 1. 

The total number of apples in storage on April 1, 2020, was 81.7 million bushels, 15%  greater than last April’s total of 71.3 million bushels and 8% above the 5-year average for that date, according to Mark W. Seetin, USApple’s director of regulatory and industry affairs.
