Koppert acquires Brazilian Geocom to accelerate precision agri-farming

Koppert Biological Systems, a biological crop control company, has acquired Geocom, headquartered in Lençóis Paulista – São Paulo, Brazil.

Operating in the field of agricultural technology, Geocom is a pioneer in image geo-processing and the first to develop an exclusive technology for the application of biological agents via drones in Brazil.

“Our goal is to accelerate precision agri-farming which is crucial for bringing biologicals to the fields,” Koppert Biological Systems’ Agri Division Director Martin Koppert said in a news release. ‘The Geocom brand is synonymous with high-tech developments. The acquisition in Brazil is a strategic decision which can favour the whole corporation by exchanging experiences and technologies with other subsidiaries around the world.”

“We aim to offer the best to our customers and partners. In addition to biological solutions, we will also offer monitoring and application technologies,’” the Commercial Director of Koppert Brazil, Gustavo Herrmann, said ‘We recognized the need to complement the quality and efficiency of our products with a more specialized application to guarantee the maximum performance of bio-protection in the field,” adds the Industrial Director of Koppert Brazil, Danilo Pedrazzoli.

The founders of Geocom, Antonio Donizeti de Oliveira and Gláucio Carrit Antiga, will remain involved as consultants. ‘”We see this acquisition not only as a milestone in the company’s history, but also a source of great pride. Throughout its history, Geocom has established itself in the market as a leader in its segment within digital agriculture, and now it can maintain that level led by Koppert.”

The acquisition is driven by a rapidly changing global agricultural environment.
