Total apples in storage April 1: 75.5 million bushels, 1.1% more than 2021

The U.S. Apple Association has released its latest USAppleTracker survey results.

According to the survey, the total number of apples in storage on April 1, 2022, was 75.5 million bushels, 1.1% more than last April’s total of 74.7 million bushels and 1.5% below the five-year average for that date.

Fresh apple holdings this April, totaled 53.3 million bushels, 4% more than the inventories reported for last April. Processing holdings totaled 22.2 million bushels, 5.2% less than last year on April 1.

This report captures more than 95% of the national storage capacity, said  Christopher Gerlach, director, of industry analytics for USApple.
