Heather Leach hired by Michigan’s Cherry Bay Orchards

Cherry Bay Orchards Inc. in Suttons Bay, Michigan, recently announced Heather Leach has joined its orchard team as director of crop production and protection.

Born in Traverse City and graduating from Glen Lake High School, Leach received her Bachelor of Science in Fisheries and Wildlife from Michigan State University (MSU), according to a news release from Cherry Bay. She went on to earn her Master of Science Degree in Entomology at MSU.

Leach has worked on spotted wing drosophila research, worked for the USDA Farm Service Agencyand most recently was an Extension associate in entomology at Penn State University.

Leach is training with Francis Otto for the next several weeks.
