Oregon State hires Thompson for tree fruit Extension

Ashely Thompson has accepted a position with Oregon State University Tree Fruit Extension at The Dalles.

Thompson is currently a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She received her Ph.D. in Horticulture from Virginia Polytechnic Institute working on “The Effects of Rootstock Selection and Carbon-based Fertility Amendments on Apple Orchard Productivity and Soil Community Ecology”.

She previously earned a master of science in Ecology and Environmental Science from the University of Maine, and a bachelor of science in Biology from Susquehanna University.

Her current research interests include improving heirloom tomato yield and quality using rootstocks and enhancing the biodegradation of weed barriers in vegetable systems. She should be arriving for work at the end of April.
