Committee announces Michigan processing apple prices

The Michigan Processing Apple Growers Marketing Committee has negotiated the following minimum processing apple prices with some processors for the 2015 crop:

Ida Red 2.5 inches and up: $14/cwt.

Jonathan, Jonagold and Crispin 2.5 inches and up: $13.50/cwt.

Hard varieties 2.5 inches and up: $13.00/cwt.

Soft varieties 2.5 inches and up: $10.50/cwt.

Gerber Products, Knouse Foods, Materne North America and Peterson Farms are in agreement with the above minimum price schedule. Burnette Foods and Indian Summer have opted out of negotiations.

Discussions will continue with processors not listed above. Contact the sales desk regarding marketing options with the processors in agreement with the above prices.

Juice apples and undersize

The Michigan Processing Apple Growers Marketing Committee chose to not negotiate a minimum juice price or undersize price for the 2015 season.

Aseltine Cider and Peterson Farms will be purchasing juice apples and determining prices at the time of sale. Gerber Products will not be purchasing any juice apples in 2015.
