Captan draft risk assessment comments end March 15

As many apple growers in the region can attest, Captan has been an essential fungicide for apple disease management programs.

Due to the 77-day PHI of mancozeb in apple, captan use in apple is essential for i) tank mixtures for fungicide resistance management; ii) control of summer diseases of apple-in particular bitter rot and Glomerella leaf spot.

Furthermore, unlike many other multi-site protectant fungicides and several single-site fungicides,  Captan has a 0-day PHI. Currently, Captan is under a draft risk assessment in the registration review process.

Until March 15, 2019, there is an open comment period. If Captan is an important component in your disease management toolbox, growers are urged to take advantage of this open comment period. There are several ways to participate.
