Belchim Crop Protection acquired by Japanese company Mitsui & Co.

Mitsui & Co. has completed its acquisition of Belchim Crop Protection following the transfer of the remaining 32% of shares held by Belchim Management NV/SA. Mitsui’s holding in Belchim Crop Protection is 62%, alongside ISK and Mitsui Chemicals Agro.

“Mitsui AgriScience group is pleased to have completed the acquisition of 62% shares in Belchim Crop Protection, as planned,” Hidetoshi Nakamura, managing director of Mitsui AgriScience International said in a news release. “With this new shareholding structure, we will further accelerate the integration of BCP with Mitsui AgriScience group and enhance its value with the other group companies for all stakeholders”.

“The completion of this deal allows Mitsui to focus on its objective to build a sustainable crop protection business in Europe. The process of collaboration between both Belchim Crop Protection and Certis Europe that started on completion of the first stage of the acquisition in April will now quicken as we work together to capture synergies and better meet the needs of our customers and suppliers,” said Mark Waltham, CEO of both Belchim Crop Protection and Mitsui’s European subsidiary Certis Europe.
