Rothwell named chair of USApple

Julia Baehre Rothwell of Grand Rapids, Mich., was elected chairman of the U.S. Apple Association’s (USApple) board of directors in August, during USApple’s 2010 Apple Crop Outlook & Marketing Conference in Chicago.

Rothwell has served on USApple’s board since 2002. She is past chair of the Michigan Apple Committee and currently serves as a director, a position she has held since 2001. She is a past director of the Muskegon County Farm Bureau and has served on the Michigan Farm Bureau’s State Policy Development Committee.

She is married to Michael Rothwell, president and general manager of BelleHarvest Sales and Belding Fruit Storage of Belding, Mich. The Rothwells are part owners of Belding Fruit Storage.

The USApple chairman serves a one-year term. Rothwell succeeds John Teeple of Wolcott, N.Y., who was elected to the position of immediate past chairman.

USApple elected three regular directors to its board of directors: Kelly Henggeler of Henggeler Packing Co., Fruitland, Idaho; Tom Stokes of Tree Top, Selah, Wash.; and Mike Wade of Columbia Fruit Packers, Wenatchee, Wash. Regular directors serve three-year terms.

USApple also elected three regional directors: John Teeple will serve district one; Frank Davis of Oneonta/Star Ranch Growers, Yakima, Wash., and Suzanne Wolter of Rainier Fruit Co., Selah, Wash., will serve district five.
