Michigan State University Extension and AgBioResearch will be offering a workshop on tracibility. Food traceability relies on record-keeping procedures, or a tracing system that records the path of fruit or vegetables from the farm through all processing stages until it reaches the consumer. This workshop is for the fruit industry, to inform them on the latest requirements from the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA).
Guest speakers include growers who have developed their own traceability programs for their farm operations. There will also be private software companies who will explain how their traceability programs work. This workshop is for all fruit growers who want to comply with Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) certification.
The traceablility workshop will be held Friday, April 22, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Trevor Nichols Research Complex in Fennville, Mich. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. The price is $75 for the first attendee per company and $50 per additional attendee from the same company.
