Positions open at Washington Farmers Market Association

The Washington State Farmers Market Association (WSFMA) has two open staff positions it is seeking to fill.

WSFMA is hiring an executive director and a program manager.

WSFMA is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to support and promote vibrant and sustainable farmers markets in Washington Sstate through member services, education and advocacy.

Over the past five years, the WSFMA has experienced significant change including tremendous growth in membership, revenue, and programs. The organization has gained national recognition for its leadership in increasing the use of SNAP/EBT at farmers markets. Its conference attracts attendees from around the Pacific Northwest region and it is recognized as a trusted leader in Washington State on issues of importance to small farms and food producers.

With the recent transition to a 501(c)(3) organization, the WSFMA is seeking an executive director who can build upon the organization’s established reputation and capture emerging opportunities to lead the organization into the future as a vibrant, relevant, and sustainable organization.

The executive director provides strategic leadership and operational oversight in support of the mission. In consultation with the board of directors, the executive director designs and executes the organization’s development and fundraising strategy, develops work plans and budgets, supervises staff, negotiates contracts, and serves as the spokesperson for the organization to members, partners and external audiences.

The regional leads program manager plans and implements WSFMA’s Regional Lead program and builds partnerships to strengthen the connections between farmers markets and local communities so that farmers markets are accessible places to purchase locally grown food for all Washington residents including the 1.1 million Washingtonians who receive public food assistance benefits. T

The goal of the Regional Leads program is to build local capacity at farmers markets around food access programs, marketing, and market operations. The Regional Leads program is in year one of three-year plan. This person will be responsible for developing the strategic vision for the WSFMA Regional Leads program and food access programs. The right candidate will be strong leader able to advance the program vision and secure resources beyond the three-year plan.
