A New Name for a Trusted Product

(Sponsored) The insecticide you have trusted for years to protect your pome and stone fruits now has a new branded name for its distinct active ingredient, spinetoram.

Delegate® WG insecticide is now Delegate WG insecticide with Jemvelva™ active (pronounced gem-VEL-vuh).

What hasn’t changed is the effectiveness you’ve come to rely on with Delegate to protect a broad range of crops from lepidopterous larvae, leafminers, thrips and some psyllids.

Targeting pests by contact and ingestion, Delegate quickly knocks down insect pests, potentially reducing in-season insecticide applications.

Protect your orchard from pests with Delegate® WG insecticide

The active ingredient in Delegate, spinetoram, stands alone in a chemical class (Group 5). Delegate does not show cross-resistance to other classes of chemistry, making it essential to resistance management.

That active ingredient, now known as Jemvelva active, is a Green Chemistry Challenge Award winner. The honor recognizes novel solutions that incorporate the principles of green chemistry into chemical design, manufacture and use.

The new global branding by Corteva Agriscience illustrates the connection between Jemvelva and nature. Specifically, Jemvelva was inspired by the words, “gem,” “velvet” and “elevated” – “gem” for polished, crafted and perfected, “velvet” for soft gentle on the environment and “elevated” for transformed and refined.

“Farmers can trust that our insecticides with Jemvelva active, including Delegate WG insecticide, continue to be field-tested solutions that are the product of Corteva Agriscience’s exceptional research and development team,” says Nathan Alonso, Insecticides Product Manager, Corteva Agriscience.

Rotating modes of action remains crucial to effective insect pest control. It reduces the chances resistance develops and extends the efficacy of each mode of action over the long term.

Delegate offers growers an ideal rotation tool in season-long insect management programs. Delegate has a novel mode of action for fast knockdown and lasting control of destructive pests, including Oriental fruit moth, leafminers, leafrollers, thrips and spotted wing drosophila.

Delegate also has a short four-hour reentry interval and is easy on beneficial insects. When applied according to the label, Delegate does not significantly disrupt or harm beneficials, including lady beetles or lacewings, and does not flare mites.
