Obituary: Jeff Kindhart

Jeff D. Kindhart, age 51 years, a resident of rural Grantsburg, Illinois, passed away Monday morning, Feb. 8, at 11:45 a.m. at his home.

Jeff was born Jan. 18, 1965 in Springfield, Illinois. He was the son of Dean and Alberta (Miller) Kindhart.

Jeff was united in marriage to Garnett (Moore) Kindhart on Aug. 17, 1985 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Pleasant Plains, Illinois. Together they enjoyed over twenty years of marriage, she survives.

In addition to his wife and parents, survivors include: his son – Richard Dean Kindhart; two daughters Rachel Blair Kindhart and Rebecca Lynn Kindhart; a sister Deanna Marie (Henry) Welsh of East Peoria.

Jeff attained his master’s degree from the University of Illinois in horticulture. Previously, he had attained a Bachelor of Science from Eastern Illinois University, and his associate degree from Lincoln Land Community College.

Jeff was employed as the academic senior research horticulturalist at the University of Illinois Dixon Springs Agricultural Center for many years. He also worked at the Rend Lake College in Ina, Illinois.

Jeff was a member of the Illinois Specialists Growers Association.

Throughout the course of his life, Jeff enjoyed a number of different activities. He had a love of coaching softball, going fishing, teaching academic lessons to others and cooking. However, Jeff found his greatest passion in his work and with the time that he spent with his family.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning, Feb. 13, at 11 a.m. at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.

Visitation will be conducted Friday evening, Feb. 12, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday morning from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905, or to an educational fund for Jeff’s children and may be left in care of Bailey Funeral Home, PO Box 695, Vienna, IL 62995.
