Professor Jan Nyrop, associate dean and director of the Cornell University Agricultural Experiment Station, will serve as interim director of the Geneva station effective March 1.

Here’s more from the Finger Lakes Times:

“[Nyrop] will direct both experiment stations during the interim before a new director is named.

“Brown will return to her full-time faculty position in the School of Integrative Plant Science.

“[Kathryn Boor, dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Science at Cornell University] said Brown ‘is recognized internationally for her apple research, which is focused on developing new, superior apple varieties with unique flavors, exceptional crispness and enhanced storage and shelf life while also incorporating resistance to disease and insect pests.’

“Brown’s move back to research is good news for the apple industry, former State Sen. Mike Nozzolio said, noting that New York growers benefit greatly from the work done by Cornell, and in particular Brown.”
