Fire ant bait gets 2(ee) nod to mix with powdered sugar in California

Extinguish Professional Fire Ant Bait has received a 2(ee) Recommendation to mix the bait with powdered sugar to help improve performance against sugar feeding ants. The recommendation is exclusive to applications made in the state of California to control sugar feeding ants in citrus fruit, grapes, pome fruit, stone fruit and tree nuts.

“Central Life Sciences is committed to working alongside our customers to help them achieve the best results possible with our products,”Nancy Stratinsky, senior business manager in the Specialty Agriculture division of Central Life Sciences, said in a news release. “Securing this recommendation for our customers in California will provide an additional tool to fight sugar feeding ants.”

Under the 2(ee) Recommendation, powdered sugar can be mixed with Extinguish® Professional Fire Ant Bait which contains (s)-Methoprene. (S)-Methoprene is an insect growth regulator that breaks the insect life cycle. Apply at a rate of 1-1.5 lbs. of bait per acre. The 2(ee) Recommendation must be in the possession of the user at the time of application.
