Mar 10, 2025Washington Winegrowers Association announces leadership change
In a leadership transition, the Washington Winegrowers Association (WWA) named Sara Higgins as interim executive director following the planned departure of Colleen Frei, according to a news release.

Characterized as an integral part of WWA for more than a decade, Higgins steps into the interim executive role after most recently serving as assistant executive director. She possesses extensive experience from her position as chief executive officer of 501 Consultants, the long-standing management partner of the association.
For more than 30 years, 501 Consultants has managed WWA’s operations, including membership services, advocacy, budgets, marketing, education, webinars and professional development programs. Higgins’s deep understanding of the organization’s mission and operations positions her well to lead during the transition, according to the release.
“We are confident in Sara’s ability to continue the strong work of the Washington Winegrowers Association,” Dustin Tobin, WWA board president, said in the release. “Her 15 years of experience and commitment to our industry will ensure continued success and support for Washington’s winegrowers.”
Frei, who is departing from 501 Consultants, has been a valued leader in the organization. Her contributions have been significant in advancing the association’s goals, advocacy and supporting the Washington wine industry, according to the release.
Based in Wenatchee, Washington, the WWA is dedicated to supporting and advancing the interests of Washington’s wine industry through advocacy, education and professional development.
