Aug 8, 2019New Jersey blueberry industry responds to food safety claims
On Aug. 8, New Jersey Secretary of Agriculture Douglas H. Fisher issued the following statement in response to an article published Aug. 8 on www.Inquirer.com, out of Philadelphia, about labor housing conditions at some New Jersey blueberry farms.
“The article included an implication that blueberries produced on these farms could be at risk of contamination. There is no evidence to support this claim. I want to be clear that consumers should continue to buy Jersey Fresh blueberries and all of the Garden State’s great agricultural products with great confidence.”
When shopping for blueberries and other Jersey Fresh produce, look for the Jersey Fresh label, officials said.
