EFI highlights vital role of farmworkers in ag, celebrates National Hispanic Heritage Month

Equitable Food Initiative (EFI) highlights the vital role of farmworkers by celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month by sharing stories and resources of Hispanic and Latino farmworkers in agriculture.

Hispanic workers make up nearly 80% of the U.S. agricultural workforce, according to the National Center for Farmworker Health. EFI’s campaign was designed to recognize the important role Hispanic workers play in agriculture.

The initiative aims to inspire other agricultural companies to honor Hispanic contributions during the month, which runs from Sept. 15-Oct. 15.

Through its campaign, EFI provides online materials that include one-on-one video conversations with Hispanic farmworkers, insights into how engaging these workers can enhance business success and resources to better understand their impact on food production.

“Hispanic communities are essential to the success of our agricultural system, and their contributions often go unrecognized,” LeAnne Ruzzamenti, director of marketing and communications for EFI said.

EFI’s resources are available at equitablefood.org/HHM.
